About the crawl
Spirits With The Spirits is run by Freaky Foot Tours, the family-owned company behind Flagstaff's original ghost tour. Founded in 2015 by author and historian Susan Johnson and her son Nick Jones, the company has guided thousands of guests through the after-dark side of three Arizona towns. This crawl is the 21+ corner of the family, and since 2026 it lives where its best stories always did: south of the tracks.
The research is the difference
Susan Johnson wrote the books on this town: Haunted Flagstaff, Wicked Flagstaff and The Walkup Family Murders, all from The History Press. Wicked Flagstaff is where the Southside kept pulling her back: the brothel licenses, the ordinances, the 1916 case, the passages under the street. Every story on the crawl traces to that research in newspaper archives, court records and long conversations with people who were there. Other tours chase our route. We wrote the books.
The storytellers
The crawl is led by the company's Flagstaff storytellers, dressed Southwestern Gothic and fluent in the town's worst behavior. Guests name them in review after review, and Revel is the name you will see most, followed closely by Steve. One part historian, one part bartender's best friend.
